Dr. Linden Dodson

Dr. Linden Dodson

Dr Dodson was born in Georgetown, Guyana, where he received formal high school education.  He came to the United States of America in August 1976, young, enthusiastic and in pursuit of a college education.

At Tuskegee University he earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Doctorate (DVM) in Veterinary Medicine (May 1983).

From September 1983 to September 1988, Dr Dodson worked in Government service in Guyana as Head of Field Services at the Veterinary Division of the Ministry of Agriculture where he was directly responsible for Animal Quarantine Services, Inspection at Ports of Entry and Emergency Medicine in Georgetown.

In 1988, he founded Veterinary Consultants (Guyana) Ltd. a privately held Limited Liability company set up to supply veterinary equipment and services in Guyana. The company soon divested into the Pharmacy Industry and controlled a major market share in Guyana. While in Guyana Dr Dodson taught Pharmacology and Surgery at The Regional Program for Training of Animal Health Assistants (REPHA), Mon Repos, and E.C.D.

In 2000 Dr Dodson returned to the U.S.A to work in clinical medicine.

In 2002 Dr Dodson joined the faculty at Adelphi Academy in the Science Department and taught Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Science in the Upper school until his resignation in 2009.

Currently Dr Dodson practices Veterinary Clinical Medicine in New York and Florida and teaches Anatomy and Physiology at New York City College of Technology (CUNY).

Uniquely qualified, experienced and at the cutting edge of basic science education, Dr Dodson proclaims "Science is that body of information we observe at the intersection of the knowledge of the means of life (how we acquire energy) and knowledge of the ends of life (when we no longer convert energy) and I strive to put this information into action to strengthen the communion with the creator of the universe". Extensively read in history particularly Guyanese, West Indian and World history; Dr Dodson fancies himself an expert in comparative religion and an advocate for environmental and social justice in our community.

An ardent sports enthusiast, Dr Dodson played basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, badminton and cricket at high school and college.

Dr Dodson served as Treasurer, Malteenoes Sports Club, 1985 to 1995; on the competitions committee of the Guyana Cricket Board, 1986 to 1996; Secretary, New York Cricket Region and New York Representative on the Board of United States Cricket Association.
